In June, Lunstrum Electrical helped fund a loan for Iliana in El Salvador that will help her to buy bales of hay and feed so that she can better care for her cattle and also increase their reproduction. Iliana lives with her husband and four children with her parents and siblings living among her neighbors. Iliana grows and raises cattle and the earnings from the sale of her corn crop and cattle have enabled her and her family to get ahead. She started the business ten years ago and learned the trades from her family. She currently is developing her businesses with the help of her husband, children and parents. She hopes to meet her client's demands and generate more income to stock up on feed for the cattle during the summer. She will also be able to improve her family's quality of life.
What is Kiva?
More than 1.7 billion people around the world are unbanked and can’t access the financial services they need. Kiva is an international nonprofit, founded in 2005 in San Francisco, with a mission to expand financial access to help underserved communities thrive. They do this by crowdfunding loans and unlocking capital for the underserved, improving the quality and cost of financial services, and addressing the underlying barriers to financial access around the world. Through Kiva's work, students can pay for tuition, women can start businesses, farmers are able to invest in equipment and families can afford needed emergency care. By lending as little as $5 on Kiva, you can be part of the solution and make a real difference in someone’s life. 100% of every dollar you lend on Kiva goes to funding loans. Kiva envisions a financially inclusive world where all people hold the power to improve their lives.
